Overview

SUMM sparks each and every person to love math.

The Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM) is a 501(c)(3) start-up math museum in the Seattle area. SUMM has volunteer opportunities across a number of different committees, including fundraising, communications, partnerships, programs, and the exhibits committee. We invite volunteers over the age of 18 of any race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability or genetic information to apply for and join our team of talented and dedicated volunteers. Volunteers over the age of 16 may participate with guardian permission. Volunteers under the age of 16 may be accepted under certain conditions.

Submit the following form to receive consideration for a volunteer position with SUMM. All information on this form will be kept confidential and will help us find the perfect volunteer position for you. Release and Signature

Notice of Photography + Imagine Release

Please note that photography, audio, and video recording may occur. SUMM may conduct interviews, photography, and/or audio recording, video recording and use these images in publication, or reproduction for our website, social media, and promotional (fundraising) purposes. Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote similar events in the future, highlight this event and/or for reporting purposes to our funders.

I grant permission for SUMM to use my and my child(ren)’s image in any film and photography during our participation in events for use as described above.

Liability Release

As a volunteer of Seattle Universal Math Museum I agree to abide by all policies and procedures as spelled out in the Volunteer Handbook. I understand that I volunteer at my own risk and neither the organization nor its employees assume any liability for any accidental injury or health problem arising from volunteer work I perform for the organization. I agree that all work I do is on a volunteer basis and I am not eligible to receive any monetary payment or reward.

Acknowledgement of Receipt of SUMM Volunteer Handbook

I acknowledge that I have been given a copy, or access to a copy, of SUMM’s Volunteer Handbook. I understand that this Handbook summarizes the SUMM’s volunteer guidelines, and that it is furnished to me solely for my information.

I understand that volunteering with SUMM is not for a specified term and is at the mutual consent of me and SUMM. Accordingly, SUMM or I can terminate the volunteer relationship at will, with or without any cause, at any time.

I understand that the statements contained in the Handbook are not intended to create any contractual or other legal obligations. I also understand that SUMM may modify or rescind any of its policies, or practices described in the Handbook at any time, except for those policies required by law.

Volunteer Application Fee

We strive to make volunteering accessible to all individuals, regardless of financial circumstances. As part of our commitment to sustainability, SUMM implements a volunteer application fee to help cover administrative costs associated with volunteer onboarding and training.

This fee is optional and will not impact your eligibility as a volunteer.

A contribution of $25 will cover the cost of your background check.
A contribution of $50 will cover the cost of your background check, application processing, and training.
A contribution of the full suggested amount of $100 will cover the cost of your background check, application processing, training, proivide support for volunteers unable to pay the fee, and support the volunteer program itself (through volunteer appreciation and recognition events, ongoing training and development opportunities, and volunteer swag).
